Videoweb
Project description
Ritzau, a major news agency in Denmark, worked with 1902 Software for their three websites. One of these was Videoweb, which shows the various news videos disseminated for Ritzau’s clients. The original site was built using classic ASP, Flash, and Javascript. The client wanted to migrate Videoweb to a responsive, .NET-based website. 1902 Software developed the website in responsive layout was using .NET and Umbraco. The client was also concerned about the different video formats they needed for their customers. 1902 Software suggested the use of Coconut (formerly called Heywatch), a video encoding system that enabled the client to convert videos in multiple formats and process batch video jobs simultaneously. 1902 Software also addressed the way video files storage in the Ritzau server consumed storage space, and that streaming from Ritzau network could block their bandwidth. An Amazon S3 storage service which freed up the disk space in Ritzau’s servers was used to solve this concern. Videoweb employs integration with its users, and works on cross-platform browsers.
