Our design process for ecommerce, websites, apps and brand identity
Our UX design process
Our UX design process follows standards from the Baymard Institute for web projects, considers platform-specific conventions for mobile apps, and includes thorough brand research for identity work.
Custom website design process
- Designer assignment and discovery, we assign designers to study your brand, industry, and audience, reviewing existing materials and, where needed, holding a discovery meeting.
- Homepage design and initial concept, we start with your homepage, establishing visual direction for the entire site.
- Feedback and revision cycle, we gather feedback and revise until the direction feels right.
- Full site mockups across devices, responsive desktop, tablet, and mobile views for product/service pages, content pages, and other key pages.
- Handoff to development, once you approve all mockups, we transfer designs to our development team.
- Designer involvement through launch, designers remain available for consultation and minor refinements as your site takes shape.
Template-based websites and theme customization
Our design team can assist with brand alignment, minor layout adjustments, and custom graphics, ensuring the theme works well for your specific content, when a quality theme already provides the functionality you need.
Mobile app design process
Mobile app design starts after your Project Manager creates a project plan detailing screens and backend requirements. We then assign designers who review specifications, design each screen based on the app's purpose, account for platform-specific conventions (Android, iOS, or both), and design custom or adapted controls depending on your preferences. Backend/admin dashboards typically use a standard admin theme, since only your team sees them. Before app store submission, we create graphics and banners for the listing page and promotional campaigns.
Brand identity and logo design process
Branding projects require deeper research and more iteration:
- Discovery and immersion, understanding your company and vision.
- Competitive and audience research, identifying positioning opportunities.
- Initial concept sketches, starting in grayscale to focus on form and clarity.
- Concept presentation and refinement, typically three initial sketches, refined based on feedback.
- Digital artwork and color application, using color psychology principles.
- Logo variations, for dark, light and colored backgrounds, and icon-only use.
- Mockups in context, applied to business cards, letterheads, and other touchpoints.
- Full asset delivery, original files, vector formats, and print/digital-ready versions.
Digital and print collateral design
For marketing materials, ads and packaging, we follow a similar process: business and industry research, brainstorming and concept development, and medium-appropriate layouts.
Quality assurance for design work
Before any design reaches you for approval, our designers submit their work to our QA team for review, ensuring designs meet technical specifications, display correctly across devices, and follow established standards. See our Testing Process page for more.

Commonly asked questions
How long does the design process typically take?
Custom website design typically takes 3–6 weeks from discovery to approved mockups. Brand identity projects usually take 4–8 weeks. Your Project Manager provides specific timelines during initial planning, or as part of a Project Scoping engagement for larger projects.
How many revision rounds are included?
We work iteratively through real-time collaboration sessions where you see changes implemented immediately. There’s no arbitrary revision limit, we continue refining until you approve the final design.
Do you design for both desktop and mobile?
Yes, responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile is built into every web project from the start, not an add-on.
Can I use my own designer and just have you handle development?
Yes. We develop from your approved specifications, working with designs provided in Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, or other standard formats.
What file formats do I receive at project completion?
Original source files (Figma or Adobe), vector formats for logos, and exported versions for digital and print use. Brand identity projects also include complete usage guidelines.
